Competition Team Terms and Conditions

Competition Team Terms and Conditions.
Our competition team is accessible via invite only. Competitions run throughout the year on weekends and during holidays. Participation in the team and then in any competitions scheduled throughout the year are completely at the teachers discretion.
Competition team classes will involve your child:
- Learning a set solo, duet, or trio routine in a range of genre's to compete on stage.
- Taking part in stamina, conditioning, and technique exercise during their set lesson time.
Financially, being part of our competition team will incur additional costs to cover their entry fees and costume hire. Additional travel will be required to take your child to and from competitions. We do try and stay as local as we possibly can.

By choosing to accept an invite to the Competition Team both you (and your child) understand and agree to the following Terms and Conditions:
- Being invited to the Competition does not automatically mean that my child will be entered into all competitions. Of course, SDA will ensure that your child is entered into as many competitions as possible BUT they must be able to deliver their dances to the required standard. Therefore, you acknowledge that competition entry is at the sole discretion of the SDA staff.

- During competition team lessons my child will may run through their set routines but may also focus on stamina, conditioning, and technique in modern, jazz, ballet and singing. Sometimes more focus maybe given to these fundamental components so that your child can properly execute their routine to the required standard, meaning they may not necessarily spend the lesson simply practicing their routine.

- Fees for competitions must be paid before the competition takes place or your child will be withdrawn. Itemised fees will be handed out directly by SDA staff.

- When attending competitions, I understand that my child and I are a direct representation of The Stage Door Academy, therefore my child will attend all competitions in their full academy uniform. Both parents and children will adhere to the rulings and correct etiquette of all competitions for example: no prompting children from the audience whist on stage and no walking, running, or talking whilst competitors are on stage. Any other specific competition rulings are always visible around the venue.

- Being a part of our competition team is a privilege and is given to only a select number of capable students in our academy. The children should be aware that an extra amount of hard work and dedication is expected of them in all classes they attend.

- SDA Staff reserves the right to remove any child from the competition team at any time. We always have the children’s best interest at heart and if we feel that they are no longer enjoying their time on the team, are not performing to their best both on stage and in general classes or the extra activities have become too much for them, their removal will be discussed firstly with the SDA Team and then with the parent.

- Threatening behaviour and questioning of teachers will not be tolerated at any time.

- Any practicing or rehearsing of routines done at home is to be done strictly as directed by SDA staff. Videos of routines will be provided along with music that is cut specifically for competition purposes. Practicing to music that is available generally on iTunes, Spotify etc is likely to be subtly different to the music they are using for their routine, which can cause your child to become out of time. No other direction should be given, other than that by SDA staff, as whilst with good intentions, could cause your child to pick up bad habits.
